The Rise of the Digital Business Card

Even today, traditional business cards remain valuable allies during meetings to forge professional connections. But are they truly necessary now? What is the practical use of a digital business card, and how does it compare to its paper counterpart?

A card traditionally held your name, phone number, email, and social media handles so that your client or business associate could contact you.

I confess that, recently, with the digital era upon us, the paper business card has been falling slightly into "disuse."

This isn't because it's useless—quite the contrary, the card is still a very effective form of communication.

However, more and more people are working 100% online and never meet their clients in person (I am a living example of this!). Because of this shift, we need to approach our communication differently, and that's precisely why the Digital Business Card emerged.

O meu cartão digital

What is a Digital Business Card?

It is a visually appealing PDF file, featuring your photo, your company logo, and, most importantly, clickable icons for your social media platforms, allowing recipients to go straight to your links. (You can take a look at my virtual card by clicking on this link.)

Who is the Digital Card For?

Honestly, it’s for everyone!

Why Should You Use a Digital Business Card?

It's simple: it's digital and infinite!

Today's world is digital. Everyone is on WhatsApp, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. If you sell online, your clients are likely coming from these social networks. To solidify connections, you will need to share your contact details digitally, won't you? So why not have a sleek, ready-made card that links to all your platforms?

It's much more professional than typing out your contact details incorrectly in a WhatsApp chat or sending a non-clickable image that makes the client lazy to type letter-by-letter into their browser. Put yourself in their place—it's quite annoying! Using a digital card also makes it easy for your client to share it with others. Is there anything more practical?

So, is the Paper Card Obsolete?

Absolutely not! The paper card is still a powerful ally.

Imagine you are talking to someone in person, you mention a product you sell that they are interested in, and they ask for your contact. Tada!

The card is there to make the exchange quick and highly professional.

Just don't make the same mistake I did. For example, when I started the studio, I printed 1,000 units of business cards.

I didn't spend much because I have a supplier, and I use them for occasional in-person meetings, which is fine. But seriously: 1,000 cards!

I have half of them here gathering dust because I rarely hand them out, as my work is 99% online. To make matters worse, I completely changed my visual identity! I often wonder: why on earth did I print so many?

A quick tip if you primarily work through social media: Don't do that! Print 100 cards. If you use at least 50 of those, print another 100. Less is more, and best of all, it won't be a strain on your wallet.

How Can I Create My Digital Card?

To create a great digital card, you need a little knowledge of software like Corel Draw or Illustrator.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about and are already feeling overwhelmed, don't worry! We also create digital cards here at the studio and would be happy to design one for you.

You can request your beautiful new digital card via our quote form by clicking here or through our WhatsApp link in the corner of your screen.

And that was today's post! I hope this helped! Be sure to share our card on Pinterest to help other people read this post. Thank you so much for reading.

Big kiss and until the next post!
